  1. Who is eligible to take UMUC Asia Distance Education (DE) classes?

    Members of the military communities, U.S. government employees, and family members who meet admission requirements are eligible to enroll in UMUC Asia DE courses. Local citizens interested in taking Asia DE courses should contact our office of Student Affairs.

  2. How can I register for a Distance Education class?

    In order to register for a class, please select the "Reservations" link from the left toolbar. For further information, please refer to the following information on the registration process. ISIS at http://www.umuc.edu/fdes/.

  3. Do I automatically receive my textbooks when I register?

    No, students taking UMUC Asia classes must order their textbooks online after they have reserved their classes.

  4. How many terms are there each year?

    UMUC Asia holds five terms each academic year, beginning in August. Visit the Asia DE Website Weekly Calendar link for important term dates.

  5. What is the average completion time per course?

    Distance education courses have varying term lengths during the regular academic year. Visit the Asia DE Website Weekly Calendar link for specific term dates.

  6. How can I find out more about a course?

    Course syllabi are made available online about one month before the start of a course. If you consult the current schedule of classes, you may click on a course title to view its syllabus, once it has been made available.

  7. Can I talk with the course instructor?

    Most communication with your instructor will take place within the virtual classroom. In addition, some instructors may allow for additional correspondence, when necessary, via e-mail or telephone. Consult the specific course syllabus to find out an instructor's policy.

  8. What happens when I have a problem with the course?

    If your course instructor is unable to assist you, please contact the UMUC Asia DE office. Our office will either assist you or put you in contact with someone who can.

  9. Will the courses I take through DE show up on my UMUC transcript?

    Yes, distance education courses appear on official UMUC transcripts with no distinction made between face-to-face and online courses.

  10. Can I earn a Bachelor's degree via Distance Education?

  11. Can I earn a Master's degree via Distance Education?

    Graduate DE courses and programs are offered through UMUC Adelphi. For more information, please see the following on UMUC's Graduate Online Programs.

  12. Can I enroll in UMUC Europe and UMUC Adelphi courses?

    Yes. Here are the links:

    For UMUC Asia students registering for courses in Adelphi, remember to select the Overseas American Military Community registration form, in order to receive the discounted Asia tuition rate.

  13. Can UMUC Europe students enroll in UMUC Asia DE courses?

    Yes. UMUC Europe students are now eligible to enroll in all UMUC Asia classes except for CCJS 105 and NUTR 100. For more information please contact UMUC Europe.

  14. Can UMUC students in the United States enroll in UMUC Asia DE courses?

    No, UMUC Asia courses are not open to students residing stateside. Students in the States may enroll through our program in Maryland, UMUC Adelphi.
