University of Maryland University College Asia - Distance Education
Distance Education - Student Grievance Procedures

All academic issues/concerns/disputes should first be discussed between the student and instructor. If the student is unable to reach an acceptable solution or compromise with the instructor, they may file a formal grievance. Students that wish to file a grievance should follow the instructions below:

  • The written complaint should include in detail the reason for the complaint, any pertinent correspondence between the student and Instructor, and the outcome that the student wishes to see as a result of the complaint.
  • E-mail the grievance to Chuck Brechbill, Assistant Coordinator, Distance Education at cbrechbill@asia.umuc.edu
  • Once this information is received from the student, the DE Office will investigate the complaint and the Coordinator will make a ruling based upon those findings.
  • The Coordinator will contact the student directly with the outcome.
