Temporarily Deploying?
Temporarily Leaving or Deploying Away From Asia?

Are you temporarily leaving your permanently assigned location (deploying/TDY/ TAD/leave/vacation)? No matter where you go, as long as your permanent duty station is within Asia you are eligible to take classes through our UMUC Asia DE program. Please read the following information to help you plan and avoid potential problems during your enrollment process.

  1. Enrolling – The UMUC enrollment process is the same for all students regardless of location or UMUC campus affiliation. No matter where you’re temporarily located, be sure to use your permanent duty station as your Registration Center. Simply visit your MyUMUC Student Portal , log in, and enroll! Please check our Getting Started With UMUC Asia DE guide for more information. If you have questions, please contact our DE Student Representative.

  2. Always Update Your Student Account Information – Be sure to update your personal account information (e.g. your temporarily assigned email address and phone number) so that our UMUC staff can contact you when necessary. Simply log into your MyUMUC Student Portal, click MyInfo and then Contact Information.

  3. Ordering Textbooks – All UMUC Asia DE textbooks should be ordered through webText, our UMUC Asia online secure textbook ordering system. Please be sure to update your account information in webText as well, particularly your temporary mailing address so we can send your textbooks to the right address. Just don’t forget to change it again after you’ve returned to your permanent duty location.

  4. Proctored Exams – You can test anywhere in the world when taking UMUC Asia DE courses. If you are unable to get to one of our UMUC Asia/Europe sites to take your proctored exam, then you will need to find an alternate proctor. As soon as you arrive at your temporary location, submit an Alternate Proctor Request Form. This is to ensure you have adequate time to coordinate and set up your proctored exam. Please visit our Alternate Proctor Request Form Webpage for detailed information. For any proctored exam related questions, please contact our Proctored Exam Administrator.

  5. WebTycho - All UMUC students will have WebTycho accounts created when they are enrolled in their very first UMUC class, whether online or face to face (on-site). If you enroll as a first time student and do not receive a username and password via email within 24 hours, do not hesitate to contact our WebTycho Administrator. If your email address does change, please remember to udate your address in WebTycho as well. Log in to your WebTycho account, click on the Options button and then Change My Email. For detailed WebTycho information, please visit our Asia DE Homepage and click on the WebTycho Resources link.

  6. Tuition Assistance – If your permanent duty location is in Asia, be sure to send your TA to the UMUC Asia Business Office. Tuition assistance can now be either e-mailed or faxed to the Yokota office. You have the option of faxing in your TA form to DSN 225-6266 or submitting it by email to ota@asia.umuc.edu. Please be sure to retain an original copy of your tuition assistance form for your records. Regardless whether you’re enrolling in a DE class with Asia, Adelphi, or Europe, your TA comes to us.

  7. Withdrawals & Refunds – Our Asia DE program has deadlines for tuition refunds, scheduling proctored exam appointments, withdrawing and more. Be sure to take a look at our handy Student Session Calendar and always be aware of our important session weekly dates and deadlines. Students should also become familiar with our Grades of "I" and "W" policies. For any questions, please contact our DE Student Representative.

As always, your local UMUC Asia Field Representatives can provide a great deal of assistance. Our Asia DE Office is here to serve you as well!
